Working for a family that respects the legacy of two historic properties while blending their talent, innovative mindset and culture makes every day inspiring. The extrovert in me, relishes in sharing the story of our estate wines and wagyu with our guests and members when they visit the winery. Genesee Valley Ranch is located in the heart of legendary California gold country, surrounded by the Plumas National Forest. This pristine and historic mountain ranch is the Napa Valley for exquisite beef. The abundant water supply, high elevation, and protected valley provide extraordinary land to raise the world’s most prestigious cattle.

GVR offers 100% purebred Black Wagyu beef, raised on organically grown grass pastures. The result is luxurious and humanely nurtured beef which is remarkably different from its commercially raised counterpart. Like every great luxury where quality is high, the quantity is scarce. As a result, only a few customers a year can obtain our highly allocated GVR beef.

2019 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

Shy at first, the 2019 Palmaz Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine that takes its time to show its true characteristics. Dark fruit and toasted oak explode from the glass to invite you in. Once the wine opens up, currants, smoky oak and bold tannins round out a luscious mid-palate. Patience is key for the 2019 vintage, revealing more complexity as it opens up in the glass. The wine’s long finish leaves a hint of toasted caramel on the good-bye. A Cabernet braised steak or grilled tomahawk would be a perfect companion to this bold beauty. We anticipate the wine to age elegantly through 2030.

Private Virtual Tasting

Let us bring our acclaimed tour and tasting experience to your home. Select from one of the various Tasting Packages. You can invite your friends (no matter where in the country they are). We will ship the wine flights to your doorsteps. Then we will arrange a time to meet up on a private video conference with one of our Ambassador Sommeliers. Connect with the estate privately on video conference where we will virtually walk through the cave, and our winemaking process. Then taste together the wines while connecting with your friends and family. Each tour is private and live so you control the show.

Once we receive your order, one of our Estate Ambassadors will reach out to organize your virtual tasting appointment. Please allow 2 weeks for us to bottle your tasting kit and ship it before your requested tasting date.

Please note that each of the 250ml bottles included in the tasting kit is 8.45 ounces each. We recommend that 2-3 persons share one tasting kit.

Genesee Valley Ranch (GVR) is located in the heart of the legendary California gold country, surrounded by the Plumas National Forest. This pristine and historic mountain ranch is the Napa Valley for exquisite beef. The abundant water supply, high elevation, and protected valley provide extraordinary land to raise the world’s most prestigious cattle.

Established as a ranch in 1862, by Edwin D. Hosselkus, the ranch has deep roots in gold rush history. Four generations of this family kept the ranching tradition alive and founded the town of Genesee, CA featuring a general store, post office, creamery, and granary.

Today, the Palmaz family has restored the grasslands, brought back the cattle, and revived the abandoned general store/restaurant in hopes of honoring and preserving the agrarian tradition of the Genesee Valley.

Each Vineyard Membership subscriber has priority access to all wines before they're released. Each member receives a customized assortment of Palmaz Vineyards wines as well as our member-exclusive wines: Gaston, 100% Cabernet from select parcels, and Brasas, a Cabernet-Malbec blend that, as Argentines, the Palmaz family couldn't resist making.

Brasas Wine Society members have priority access to all wines prior to release dates, as well as exclusive Brasas-only estate events where we celebrate the season in grand style.
